Pirada Suphaphiphat Allen is Vice President, Seasonal Strain Change Vaccines at Pfizer Vaccine Research and Development, leading a team focused on developing various RNA-based vaccine and delivery platforms to target multiple infectious disease pathogens. She is currently responsible for Pfizer’s COVID-19, Influenza, and Influenza/COVID-19 combination vaccine programs.  She also oversees a Vaccines Data Sciences team responsible for next-generation sequencing and analytics, bioinformatics, and AI/ML to support strain change activities and all vaccine research and development programs.

Previously, her pharmaceutical experience was mostly in influenza vaccine research and development at Novartis Vaccines and Seqirus/CSL.  At Novartis, she led a US government-funded synthetic influenza program to improve the speed and yield of vaccine seed generation and pioneered other novel approaches to improve the manufacturing process for cell-based influenza vaccines. When Novartis’ influenza vaccines business was acquired by Seqirus/CSL, Pirada became Head of the Microbial & Molecular Biology group, where she established a self-amplifying RNA platform for seasonal influenza and pandemic vaccines and led projects to demonstrate the value of synthetic/cell-based viruses in improving influenza vaccines.

Pirada received her PhD degree in Biological Sciences in Public Health (Immunology and Infectious Diseases) at the Harvard School of Public Health.
