CEO & Co-founder

ShelterZoom Corp.

Chao Cheng-Shorland is the CEO & Co-Founder of ShelterZoom, a Gartner-recognized deep-tech company built on one simple conviction: organizations should maintain control over their most critical information and build resilience, especially when the stakes are highest.

A serial inventor with nearly 80 patents and trademarks, Chao has built her career around solving problems many would consider too complex, too entrenched, or simply unsolvable across many industries, including but not limited to healthcare, cybersecurity, government and digital ownership. Among her most notable inventions are Spare Tire, a first-of-its-kind cyber-resiliency platform built to keep hospitals fully operating and patients cared for when EHR systems go down, and Document GPS, a new approach to digital ownership that gives people and organizations real-time control over sensitive content long after it leaves their hands.

Chao's leadership is defined by her unmatched urgency, imagination, and refusal to accept broken systems as inevitable, qualities that have earned her recognition as Female Innovator of the Year and a New York Responsible 100 honoree, as she continues building technology designed not just to protect data, but to empower the world with control, resilience, and trust in what matters most.
