Yoonie Joung, the President and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and vision. As the head of the region, Yoonie has been instrumental in driving growth and building customer loyalty for Samsung’s innovative products, technologies, and AI solutions that make people’s lives better.
With over 30 years of experience at Samsung, Yoonie has held key leadership roles across the company. Most recently, he served as the Head of Global Sales for the Mobile Business. Before that, he led various businesses worldwide, including heading Samsung Electronics America’s Mobile Division and serving as President of Samsung Brazil and Samsung Turkey.
Throughout his career, Yoonie has spearheaded transformative initiatives that have fueled growth and strengthened consumer loyalty, especially among Gen Z and Millennials consumers. He successfully launched the Samsung Ambassador Program and enhanced influencer marketing efforts for the Mobile Division, making Samsung more relatable to these audiences. Additionally, he accelerated direct-to-consumer sales by expanding Samsung’s e-commerce presence and creating branded online shops, streamlining the process of acquiring and retaining customers.
Yoonie also led the shift to a data-driven, customer-centric business model. By leveraging advanced segmentation and tailored engagement strategies, he delivered personalized experiences across Samsung’s ecosystem of products, ensuring customers felt valued and understood.
In 2024, under his strategic direction, Samsung achieved its highest Galaxy flagship sales in five years, setting a new benchmark for global revenue and market share. Building on this success, Yoonie continued to drive robust double-digit growth across key product lines, maintaining Samsung’s competitive edge and fostering sustained innovation.
Yoonie’s journey began in 1992 when he joined Samsung as an engineer. Early in his career, he worked in the Global Strategy Office, focusing on strategic planning, alliances, and new business development. He also spent time in the Mobile Division, where he gained valuable experience across diverse markets, including Europe, CIS, the Middle East, and Latin America. Leading the Global Product Management group and sales innovation group further honed his skills in driving growth and innovation.
