Dr. Vivian Valenty’s journey began in a thatched hut in the Philippines. She earned her BS in chemistry from Mapua Institute of Technology at 19, then secured a Ford Foundation travel grant to pursue a Ph.D. in organic chemistry at The Pennsylvania State University.

Her career spans academia, government labs, and industry roles at Staley, GE, MicroSi, and ANALYZE Inc. Vivian found her passion in creating specialty products for diverse industries such as renewable resources, electronics, graphic arts, and personal care. Since founding VB Cosmetics, Inc. in 1993, Vivian has designed over 400 body care products, manufacturing them in the U.S. to ensure top quality. Under her leadership, the company has planted over 700,000 trees in Zambia in partnership with WeForest, supporting local communities and reforestation efforts.

Vivian credits education for her success and supports nonprofit organizations focused on educational equity, including Girls Opportunity Alliance and Black Girls Code. VB Cosmetics values diversity and fosters a collaborative workplace that drives innovation and clean, effective products. Her achievements include the 2019 iSPA Innovator of the Year Award, the 2020 Arizona Manufacturers Council Excellence in Innovation Award, and lifetime honors from Mapua University and Penn State. Vivian actively shares her expertise through media and educational outreach.
