Padma Rao started out as an engineer, building databases, websites and telecom systems. She moved to the business side more than twenty years ago, and the engineering has never stopped being the advantage.

At companies like Gap and Sephora she used technology to create speed and access, so decisions got made on better information and got made sooner. At Zynga she arrived just as the growth took off and ran marketing from tens of millions in revenue to more than a billion. She built the tools she needed to operate at that scale, on new platforms that did not yet have fully developed infrastructure to support what the company needed.

The pattern held. She helped sell Grubhub to another public company, has raised capital at different stages, and has advised and sat on the boards of several others. She was most recently Chief Operating Officer of Seated, and is now Chief Executive Officer of The Bouqs Company.
