Dr. S. David Wu became the eighth president of Baruch College in 2020, making history as the first Asian American to lead a CUNY institution. Under his leadership, Baruch has earned national acclaim, including being ranked the Best Value University in the U.S. by The Wall Street Journal for three consecutive years. Dr. Wu has driven an 8% increase in enrollment and a 38% surge in applications since 2021 by fostering innovation and strategic partnerships.


Previously, Dr. Wu served as provost and EVP at George Mason University and dean of engineering at Lehigh University. An accomplished scholar in systems engineering, his research in game theory and optimization has been supported by the National Science Foundation and implemented at firms like Intel, HP, and IBM. He has served on various prestigious boards, including Dartmouth’s Thayer School of Engineering. Dr. Wu holds an M.S. and Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University.
