Alex Wang’s journey from drugstore aisles in his childhood to leadership at L’Oréal Groupe is driven by a mission to make underrepresented communities feel seen. As a queer Asian American without media role models, Alex turned that void into ambition.

He began his career in finance at Unilever, Newell Brands, and Coty before shifting to brand marketing, believing inclusive storytelling can shift culture and grow business. Now a Brand Marketing Director at L’Oréal, Alex has led groundbreaking campaigns like Maybelline’s “Face the Difference”—the largest Asian Pacific beauty campaign ever—featuring 40 AANHPI trailblazers and generating over 1.4 billion media impressions.

At Garnier, he launched the Gold Green Grant, a partnership with Gold House supporting AANHPI sustainability innovators, awarding nearly $100,000 and earning 300 million impressions. Alex’s work inspired similar initiatives across L’Oréal. Previously at Coty, Alex led the GLAAD partnership for Sally Hansen’s Pride collection, winning a 2023 PAC Global Best in Class award for Inclusive Design, and founded Coty’s AANHPI employee resource group. He mentors aspiring marketers, advocates for purpose-driven business, and was named to Ad Age’s 40 Under 40 in 2024. Alex holds a BS from Cornell and an MBA from NYU Stern, and lives in New York City.
