(January 26, 2009, New York) The Lunar New Year is the most important holiday of the year for many Asian Americans, and is becoming an important one for all New Yorkers. To celebrate this special time for the Asian American communities in the city, AABDC once again organized a Lunar New Year reception in collaboration with Macy's on January 26, 2008. A number of elected officials, business, community and civic leaders from all sectors of New York joined this special reception. Governor David Paterson proclaimed January 26, 2009 as Lunar New Year 4707 Day in the Empire State for all New Yorkers sharing in this joyous occasion with the Asian American community.

New York State Assembly member speaking at the 2nd International CEO Roundtable
(November 15, 2008, Beijing) As a member of the Invest in New York Trade Mission, New York State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava was invited to speak at the opening session of the 2nd International CEO Roundtable of Chinese and Foreign Multinational Corporations in Beijing. Co-sponsored by the China International Institute of Multinational Corporations and seven United Nations organizations, the roundtable focused on the current financial crisis and the state of China's economy. Ms. Scozzafava spoke about the importance of the delegation's visit, and addressed building sustainable development through innovation, communication and global cooperation.
2008 Invest in New York Trade Mission to China

(November 12, 2008, Nanjing) AABDC, in cooperation with the Office of the Democratic Leader of the New York State Senate Malcolm A. Smith, led a "Invest in New York" trade delegation to China, November 7 - 16, 2008. New York State Legislators and businesses from different regions of the state traveled to Shanghai, Changzhou, Nanjing and Beijing during an intensive ten-day visit that included a combination of meetings with government and business leaders, tours of economic development zones, as well as seminars to promote New York State as a destination for Chinese businesses and investments. This is the first such trade mission to focus on inward investment into New York, since the opening of AABDC's New York Center in Beijing in April.
New York in China Center at the 12th CIFIT
(September 9, 2008, Xiamen) Over 55, 000 people from all over China and over the world gathered in Xiamen, Fujian Province to attend the renowned 12th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), which is the largest economic trade show focuses on investment and new business opportunities in China and overseas.
The U.S. participation for the first time at the CIFIT marked a significant policy change that welcome Chinese investment to America. The New York in China Center took a booth in the U.S. Pavilion to promote investment in New York.
Close to 20 states participated in the trade fair, the New York Center armed with well prepared materials about New York State had attracted a great deal of interest and inquiries about how to invest in New York. Over 3000 pieces of materials were distributed at the fair and New York Center collected more than 300 business cards from a range of business organizations and trade agencies across China.
